I thought it might be valuable to share some report styles for registering teachers that I have done. If you are new to this and a little unsure as to how and what to document this gives you food for thought. There are so many ways of documenting. Would love to see what and how others are reporting too.
Ally Grasslands Kindergarten
This has been shared with the permission of the teacher.
....... Registration Term One 2008Professional Relationships....... has settled into the kindergarten environment. She has grown in confidence and has become an active contributor to the team in all aspects. She has developed warm, caring, reciprocal relationships with staff and children and is developing her relationships with whanau as they get to know her. Her commitment and passion for the children are evident in her interactions that are respectful and affirming with humour interwoven. The children have a real delight in their relationship with her and are eager to seek her out to share their work, ideas and learning. ...... is willing to support, contribute and share her ideas and reflections in our team. She is a pleasure to have and is a valued member of our team and as her confidence grows we look forward to the growth that will occur in her team contributions. She has skills that we are yet unaware of that are beginning to surface as she feels more confident in the team and the kindergarten.
Professional KnowledgeShe has a wonderful ability and passion in setting up the inside and outside environment to entice, extend and involve children individually or collaboratively. She revisits the area frequently maintaining the presentation of the space for other children. This is reflected in all areas of her practice and she has shared her ideas with the team about this.
....... has implemented visual cues for processes in screen printing and ink printing for the children displaying their work they have created. She has developed the idea of cards for the clay area to get children thinking about possibilities involving photos of different clay work and has created interesting ladder and guttering creations with bungy cords for the channelling of water.
She has sought further information to support her documentation from the WKA Library and implemented gained knowledge into the centre.
Professional Practice....... is developing her mat time skills in reading the children, providing for their interests and needs and being clear about her expectations. Her behaviour management is strong and she has an understanding of our ‘Playing as Good Friends’ Procedure and is actioning this around the kindergarten environment. At all times she is professional and is constantly on the look out for new and innovative experiences/ equipment to share with the children and staff.
...... has taken on board the style of learning stories adopted by the kindergarten and has contributed to children’s portfolios.
Professional LeadershipAs ...... develops her relationships with staff and feels a part of the team she is sharing more information and knowledge of different subjects within the team. She has demonstrated initiative within the environment and team. Her strength in providing a lead to motivate other teachers to continually reflect on how they are setting up the environment is an area of strength in her teaching.

Another example...... Registration Term Two 2008Performance standards identified for Term One and Two 20081. Standard 1: Have a sound knowledge of Te Whariki and current learning, teaching and assessment theories. (1 Learning and Teaching)...... you are confident in your linking to Te Whariki in all aspects of your practice and I have observed you use this document to refer and reflect upon on a regular basis. You continue to update and learn further through discussion, readings and professional development opportunities. You have developed your philosophy and have taken on board the centres philosophy and these are both reflected in your practice. The initiation into our ICT project has necessitated in some very steep learning, which you have worked hard at gaining an understanding. Through your involvement and commitment this has developed. The relationships you are building within the team, children, whanau and contact with the wider community and outside agencies are developing in depth as you develop in your sense of belonging here. I enjoy your contributions to the kindergarten in every aspect and find your professional discussions stimulating and thought provoking in my own practice reflections.
2. Standard 7. Demonstrate an understanding of positive guidance strategies.(7 Learning Environment)...... you have taken on board our playing as good friends and are modelling the behaviours and actions you expect from the children. You have developed your knowledge and ability to read group situations and act accordingly to the ‘mood’ and the children. I have observed you anticipating events and providing diversion, clear thoughts about appropriate behaviour, inviting the children to work through challenges and express their thoughts, ideas and feelings. Your reflections have been thoughtful and insightful. Your confidence has grown and you are supportive to other children and team members in all areas of the centre.
3. Standard 10. Demonstrate expectations that value and promote learning. (10 Learning Environment)...... this a strength area of your practice. Your ability to work an area to its best potential is fantastic to observe. The children know you value their work in the way you present it, share it, and support it and their ideas. This term you have provided some lovely acknowledgement and extension of children’s interest in threading and carpentry. (refer learning stories for evidence) Fantastic work!
Associate ReflectionThanks for taking on board the suggestions in the previous food for thought. Your reflections and documentation supports your understanding and growth in confidence in all these areas. It also reflects how rapidly you are growing in confidence and competency in all areas of your practice.
Your increasing contributions to the team are very much appreciated and provide us with food for thought in our practice and awareness of the environment we provide for the tamariki. You are a valuable team member with a great sense of humour and I look forward to your continuing contributions

You have been involved in the writing of Milestone 4 and have been an active contributor to this document as your understanding of the research is growing. Thank you I know this is a challenge to enter into.
Planning and Evaluation. You have been an active participant in discussion around children interests, passions and what we have provided and will endeavour to provide to meet the children’s needs, interests and passions. Your contributions have been valuable and insightful in the knowledge of the children. This is evident in your learning story documentation. The next step will be being responsible in the documentation of the planning and evaluation to display for parents and whanau.
Fire Drill. You are now familiar with the folder where this documentation is kept and are capable and competent in filling out this form and carrying out a fire drill.
