Swings n Things

After seeing Gill Connell's presentation at the staff meeting regarding perceptual motor development and the foundation skills for learning our team purchased some new equipment to support this. We purchased a large spin top and a couple of billyboy thingee migigee's.
Alongside this we have purchased more ropes and pulleys, the children have a strong and growing interest in these and we have been exploring them in a variety of ways. They are a lot of fun and physically and mentally challenge the children.
Through these activities the children are developing their motor skills, fitness, balance, co-ordination, locomotion, body control, spacial awareness, confidence and problem solving. Plus they are a heap of fun! Take a look at the photo's, i hope they can provide you with some fresh ideas and inspiration.

Fun Science

I promised i would make the effort this week to contribute something to get the ball rolling.

This is a book we ordered at the beginning of term. It is a fabulous resource full of fantastic science ideas, from magnetic artwork, to light box exploration to science activities with water in the sandpit. Most of the resources needed are inexpensive and easy to access, and all of them are lots of fun.

The book includes links to the strands of Te Whariki and was a great buy at only $30.00
You can find the book at Mohobe, just google it and it should come up. I find it a valuable resource.
